Challenge #8

Challenge #8

Today is day 8 of my 30-blog challenge.  Here is the 30 day challenge if you want to join in.

3e88c9c8e4f5e4efc9e5418809bd1b59

Three things I want to tell different people.   Hmmmm…..

1.  To my husband:  I love you and appreciate you.  I know I do not say or show that nearly enough.  I am grateful for all the times you run and get me the things that I think I need…like medicine and 7-up when I’m sick, milk shakes at 9pm (who know important stuff like that).  I also want you to know that I’m super proud of you, because you work really hard to provide for your family.  Most importantly I want you to know that I do love you very much and do not know what I would do without you.

2.  To my parents: I love both of you so much, and that I’m grateful for everything you did for me when I was child.  Yes Dad, even the time you taught me how levees work only you had me use poison ivy leaves as the levee.  haha.  I also apologize for my behavior as a teenage.  I am saddened because I see now that I missed out several important years of spending time with you because of my behavior.  I am thankful that we have a close relationship today, and can’t imagine my life without you two in it.  I love you both dearly and I’m very proud that you both are my parents.

3.  To my children:  I love both of you so much, and my love is unconditional.  I may hate your behavior and actions, but I will always love you both very very much.  When you get older you will say things you don’t mean and I will (sadly) probably say things I do not mean.  But please know that I will always love you and I will always be your number fan.  You two are my world, and thus far I have enjoyed (almost ;) ) every minute of it.

Sappy, I know.  If sappy isn’t your thing then check back for challenge number 9 when I discuss pet peeves!   Thanks for reading and MAKE TODAY AWESOME!

Challenge Day 7

Whew, I barely made this post on time.  I am getting back into my normal mom routine now that the kids are back school which means: yelling at them to do chores, cooking supper, yelling at them to do their homework, yelling at them to get off the video games…yes, I do a lot of yelling at nothing seems to change…enough of that ( I will re-visit that problem another time), let’s talk books.

Today’s Challenge was: Do you like to read and what is your favorite book.

I really enjoy reading, and wish I had more time in my day to read.  I need to focus a little more on reading and less on Facebook.  Okay speaking of focus, as you could have guessed, my favorite books are the Harry Potter books written by J.K. Rowling.

harry-potter-books

No surprise there.

My favorite book in the series is The Prisoner of Azkaban. I’m not sure why that book is my favorite, it might be because Harry meets his godfather and learns more about his parents.
I know that the many people and organizations have a problem with Harry Potter because they think it encourages children to become wizards/witches or that the book promotes evil.  I, however, see the books a little differently.   In my opinion, the books are about the power of friendship, the struggle to live up to other people’s expectations, struggling with the deaths of those you love and care about,  and good prevailing over evil.  And how can a book that gets kids to actually read be so wrong?   I remember I used to read the R.L. Stine books as a pre-teen and I don’t recall there ever being a big da-to over those type of books.   Anyways, bottom line I am a Christian and I love Harry Potter and anyone who meets me can take it or leave it.  My daughter is just starting to read the books (she has seen all of the movies) and not once has she said that wants to be a witch when she grows up!

I tend to get a little fired up about that subject, but I also enjoy reading many other books as well.  I really enjoy the classics and know-how books.  Unlike many of my wonderful friends, I have not read the 50 Shades books.  Maybe one day.

Join me tomorrow for Day 8 of the Challenge where I reveal 3 things that I want to say to different people!  Make it a GREAT DAY

Day 6 : Let's talk music

Well today’s challenge is to name one band or musician that is important to you.  I don’t actually have that one band/musician whose music has had an impact on my life.  Don’t get me wrong, I love music but I lack that deep connection that some people have to their music.  I do believe that music is very important and encourage everyone to ROCK OUT to whatever music they prefer.

My music taste is very, um, eclectic.  I am the type of the person that can who can enjoy almost any type of music.  With that being said, I cannot stand classical music as much as I want to be able have that sophisticated taste, sadly I do not.  I remember the time that my parents bought me a classical CD to promote brain development and increase IQ when I was pregnant with my son; I got so irritable and angry from listening to it that I threw it out the window.  Today, I am perfectly okay with my children’s mediocre IQs (lol).

In high school, I mainly listened to Rap and Hip: Tupac, Bone Thugs, Eminem, Puffy, Master P. (man I just realized I haven’t heard this music in a long time)  To this day one of my favorite songs is still Tupac’s Keep Ya Head Up.

As I got older my preference changed to Alternative, Pop, and mainstream country.   My pre-sets on my Radio vary just as much as my music taste.  I have Country, Christian, POP, a 90s channel, and talk radio (that’s when you know you are getting old when you find yourself listening to talk radio!).

Anyways, I don’t feel like I accomplished much with this post as it is more of a jumbled up mess which I guess in a way it sort of represents my music taste.

Challenge Day 5-Places I want to visit.

Challenge Day #5-Places I want to go.

Brrrr, it is so cold here in mid-Missouri (like well below zero cold; something I personally have never experienced before), and maybe that’s the majority of my five places are located in warm climates.

Number one on my list:  As previously mentioned and I will probably continue to mention it until I make that dream a reality.   “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” in Orlando, Florida.
??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Number two:  Atlantis Resort, Bahamas.  My son was the one to bring this wonderfully exotic place to my attention.  He has asked to go there every year since.  Unfortunately, there is a pretty price tag attached to little paradise oasis.
atlantis_bahamas   There is even a slide and lazy river that take you between shark infested waters.  How cool is that?   That makes me remember the time I snorkeled with sharks at Typhoon Lagoon in WDW. It was an amazing experience.  The sharks at Atlantis are gigantic compared to the ones encountered.                   zewb_5 Atlantis%20(7)
(check out those sharks).

Number 3.    There are not many places outside the United States that I want to travel to, mainly because the idea of international travel raises my anxiety to a whole new level.  But, I want to visit Ireland.

4.  Mount Rushmore.  But only in Summer.  ;)

And finally, the Grand Canyon.  I want to take the Amtrak, because there is something nostalgic about crossing the west by train.           the-grand-canyon

There you have it my 5 places that I want to visit.  Where do you want visit?  Leave a comment and share your thoughts!

Tomorrow I talk music.

30-day Challenge Day 4

The meaning behind my blog name.

Well I actually started this blog back in 2010, but it didn't go anywhere.  I only posted like 4 times.  I am determined to do better this time around!  Anyways, when looking for a name I wanted to stick with the L in my first name so I Googled "L-words" and found the word leaflet.  I thought the word would work...it's my own version of a digital leaflet!    Not to earth shattering, but for now it works
for me.

Tune in tomorrow when I share the five places I want to visit!

First 30 day challenge~Day 1-4~ Playing catch up.

Day 1- A little about me:

Okay, so I had this idea while racking my brain for 2014 resolutions, this coming from girl who has a consistent pattern of NOT keeping New Year resolutions, to complete 12 different 30-day challenges.  Other ideas floating around in my brain were: lose weight (blah), save money (again blah),  and start to recycle (a great goal except I have so many excuses as to why it will not work like not enough room, okay well that is one excuse.  Okay, okay, I’ll make a resolution to re-visit this goal later in the year).

So here is January’s 30 day Challenge.  (I chose this challenge to help me acclimate to world of blogging)  Please join me!

Some basic facts about me:

My husband and I will be married 9 years in March.  We have two children who are growing up too fast.  I wish I could hold on them and keep them young forever.  I live in Misery Missouri and although I complain, mainly about the weather, I can’t imagine living anywhere else.

I am a Disney fanatic and have been to Disney World twice, but would love to go many more times. In addition to being a Disney fan, I am a huge Harry Potter fan.  I have read all the books, watched all the movies, and played most of the video games.  One thing that I have not done is go to Harry Potter World at Universal Studios in Orlando.  I hope to change that someday, until then I will continue to change my screensaver to a new HP World picture every few weeks.

Finally, I am an avid scrapbooker (I am hoping to share some of my creations) and crafter.  To sum things up, I am just a small town mom stuck in the middle of US dreaming of sunny Orlando, Florida while scrapbooking life one picture at a time.

Day 2:  My likes and Dislikes

Well yesterday I shared some of my loves: Disney, Harry Potter, Scrapbooking, and my wonderful FAMILY!  But today’s challenge was to list 10 “likes” and “dislikes” and being the typical pessimistic person that I am; I started to rattle off my dislikes rather quickly, but then I remembered that I am trying to change, therefore I am going to focus on my “likes” first.

10 “Likes”
1.  Scavenger Hunts
2.  Chocolate
3.  Polka Dots  polka-dots-pp2ubf
4.  Snowmen
5.  Being involved in my church and community
6.  Throwing/Organizing parties
7.  Pinterest:  check out more of my “likes” here
8.  My new Kia Soul
9.  Owls
10.  Converse “Chucks” Shoes.

Now on to my “Dislikes”
1.  Certain aspects of my job.
2.  Cold weather.
3.  Garden Gnomes (hey, they are creepy) Zombie-Garden-Gnome  photo from laughterz .com
4.  Scary/Horror Movies
5.  Snakes
6.  My current financial situation
7.  My husband’s new work schedule
8.  My physical health
9.  Rude/Disrespectful people
10. Being Sick (yeah, dealing with this one right now)

Day 3: My day in great detail!

I guess I put this post off as long as I could today.  I put if off for a couple of reasons: 1. I’m boring.  2. I have to leave several details off in order to retain my job (wink wink).  Anyways, here it goes.
At 7am my alarm went off and then I proceeded to hit snooze three times, and then I finally got up and got dressed for work (you know: shower, dress, brush teeth).

For all intensive purposes I made it to work right at 8am ;)

8-9:15am- I typed notes, called clients, talked to co-workers, complained about the cold weather.
9:15am-12:00- I met with clients.  I can’t go into detail, let’s just say, it’s classified!!!

12:00-1pm- I ate General Tso’s chicken, cottage cheese and Pringles.  Checked Facebook, email, work email, Facebook again

1-to let’s just say 5pm- I met with more clients (Again classified, and yes I’m salary)  During this time I may or may not have stopped at Sonic for a slush.

5pm-6:30pm- did a load of laundry, cleaned my craft room, made the kids do their chores (unfortunately, I had to unplug the internet modem in order to get them to actually complete the chores, yep I’m that mom), cooked supper, checked Facebook and email, pinned some pins, and did some dishes.

6:30-9:00pm- Watched Harry Potter, Deathly Hallows pt. 1 with my daughter, also repeatedly checked Facebook as if something cool would actually happened, it didn’t!
deathly_hallows2_copy
So I as get ready to finalize this post it is 9:15pm and my daughter and I are watching part 2 of the Deathly Hallows while listening to my creepy daughter speak in parsil tongue.  I love that she is so much like me.  aka NERDY.

Well that was my day. I hope yours was just a, um, PRODUCTIVE!

Okay this is my attempt of playing catch-up.  I am trying to decided which blog forum I like better: wordpress or blogger.

Here’s to you making 2014 GREAT!
